Job summary

The Telegraph in London is seeking an innovative Information Graphics Designer to join our Graphics team. You will transform complex data and stories into visually engaging graphics for print and digital formats, shaping the future of graphic journalism.

The role requires a strong portfolio, fluency in visual storytelling, and familiarity with editorial design principles. You will collaborate with editors, reporters, data journalists, designers, and developers to publish compelling content.

Qualifications

  • Advanced practice of graphic design fundamentals (Typography, colour perception, composition)
  • In-depth knowledge of editorial design and visual storytelling within publishing
  • Comprehensive understanding of graphic production on print and digital platforms
  • Cartography and geospatial analysis with QGIS/MapShaper
  • Proficient in data visualisation tools (Raw, DataWrapper)
  • Basic front-end skills (HTML/CSS/JS)
  • Strong user-focused and interface design experience (Figma)
  • Experience interpreting data to reveal trends and insights

Responsibilities

  • Create engaging information graphics for print and digital platforms
  • Visually communicate complex subject matter clearly
  • Develop new approaches for presenting stories on publishing platforms
  • Contribute to breaking news, lead stories, investigations and longform features
  • Visualise data into engaging graphic journalism pieces
  • Collaborate with editors, reporters, data journalists, designers and developers
  • Research topics to enhance graphics quality
  • Pitch ideas to editorial desks and lead best-practice discussions
  • Progress team capabilities through sharing technical developments
