Job summary

Acorns Children’s Hospice Trust is seeking an Infection Control Practitioner to lead infection prevention across three hospices in Walsall, Worcester and Birmingham. You will also support the Care Education Team to design and deliver high-quality learning programmes.

The role involves identifying infection hazards, monitoring policy compliance and advising on outbreak management, with travel between sites and ongoing professional development incentives.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional (e.g., RGN/RMN or AHP)
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Previous experience in infection prevention and control

Job description

Acorns Children's Hospice Trust are looking for an Infection Control Practitioner to lead on infection prevention and control across our three hospices in Walsall, Worcester and Birmingham. Additionally, you will also support our Care Education team to with the design and delivery of high-quality learning programmes.

About the Role

At Acorns Children’s Hospice, we provide specialist palliative care for children, and young people with life-limiting and lifethreatening conditions, and we support their families through every step of their journey, and through transition. Our work is defined by compassion, expertise, and an unwavering belief that every child deserves comfort, dignity, and the chance to experience joy. Each hospice is purpose-built with individually decorated rooms overlooking our gardens. We try to make it as welcoming and friendly as possible – a homely environment for the children, young people and their families.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist input in the identification, prevention and control of infection
  • Monitor staff compliance with infection prevention and control policies

About You
  • Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional
  • Previous experience in infection control
  • Evidence of continued professional development

Additional Information

You need to be eligible to work in the UK to be considered for this role.

We are committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and therefore any successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check for children and will be asked to provide two satisfactory references.

In addition, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of immunisation against specific diseases or confirm their willingness to receive the necessary vaccinations.
