Job summary

North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Infection Prevention and Control Nurse with a Decontamination focus. You will work across North Tees and Hartlepool sites delivering IPC guidance, leading investigations of outbreaks, and delivering training to diverse staff groups.

The role requires NMC registration, a nursing degree, and post-registration experience with mentoring/teaching qualifications.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with NMC registration.
• Degree or commenced on pathway as stated.
• Evidence of further post‑registration experience.
• Mentorship in practice or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Evidence of teaching in current role.

Responsibilities

• Act as a specialist adviser to all staff on infection prevention and control.
• Liaise and agree action with staff in outbreaks of infection.
• Investigate outbreaks and implement containment plans.
• Contribute to IPCT clinical audit programme to evaluate procedures.
• Provide information and specialist education to staff groups.
• Represent IPCT on committees and provide input.
• Deliver IPC training to a wide range of staff.
• Travel to different sites as necessary.
• Maintain development plans and annual performance reviews.
