Job summary

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Consultant in Infection, with Specialist Training in Microbiology and CCT in Microbiology or a combined Infectious Diseases and Microbiology pathway, to join a busy infection service based at Royal Preston Hospital.

The role includes advisory duties, participation in ward rounds with the microbiology team and other specialties, OPAT management, undergraduate teaching, and on-call duties.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide input to infection management of patients and contribute to Microbiology MDT meetings.
• Participation in joint ward rounds with the antimicrobial pharmacist and rounds on other specialist units as per personal interest; some rounds may occur via Microsoft Teams.
• Involvement in the OPAT service management.
• Involvement in the undergraduate teaching of medical students.
• Involvement in the clinical supervision of Higher Specialist Scientific Training.
• Participation in the Infection Service Consultant on-call rota (one in six) for LTHTR.
• Maintain continuous commitment to patient care with appropriate leave arrangements.
• Promote high professional standards of clinical care and ongoing professional development.
• Develop links with General Practitioners operating in the area.
