Job summary

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
• FRCPath or equivalent qualification.
• MBBS/MBChB or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive clinical microbiology service to clinicians, GPs and other users.
• Supervise daily laboratory microbiology activities and approve results.
• Communicate with hospital clinicians about specimen collection, testing and diagnosis.
• Contribute to rational antibiotic prescribing within the Trust and community.
• Collaborate with the Occupational Health Department on infection prevention and staff health matters.
• Participate in day-to-day infection prevention and control activities across sites.
