Job description

People Solutions are currently recruiting for two Industrial Service Technicians to join our well-established client based in Tamworth, Staffordshire on a full-time permanent basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity offering an attractive annual salary and room for growth and progression.

You will work closely with the HSE & Facilities Manager and the wider team to ensure the site operates efficiently and safely.

This role is a mix of practical and administrative tasks (70% practical, 30% administrative), involving maintaining equipment, troubleshooting issues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance site performance.

Day-to-Day Duties:

  • Perform routine maintenance, fault finding, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and automated systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Plan and execute preventative maintenance to minimise downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot automated conveyance systems, SCADA, and industrial control systems for optimal efficiency.
  • Conduct safety inspections, maintain compliance records, and ensure all work adheres to HSE standards.
  • Manage spares and inventory to prevent operational delays.
  • Coordinate with external contractors for specialised repairs, supervise their work, and ensure permits and risk assessments are in place.
  • Support process improvements, cost control, and drive efficiency initiatives following LEAN principles.
  • Work with operational managers to ensure material flow and maximise plant productivity.
  • Willingness to work outside standard hours during peak periods or urgent maintenance situations.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience in maintenance, engineering, or technical roles within automated, fast-paced environments.
  • Strong fault-finding skills in mechanical and electrical systems, with knowledge of automation, SCADA, PLCs, or similar controls.
  • Proactive, hands-on problem-solving approach.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance and compliance standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety regulations; IOSH qualification is preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience in project management or leading maintenance improvements is advantageous.
  • Experience in FMCG, Logistics, or Distribution sectors is desirable.

Training:

  • Industry-related training and ongoing support will be provided.
