Northrop Grumman UK is offering an Industrial Placement Software Engineer placement in New Malden, London. You will contribute to software development projects within multidisciplinary teams, gaining hands-on experience on defence-facing systems.

The role starts September 2027 and requires UK citizenship with SC clearance, 10% travel, and site-based with flexible working options. You will learn to design, develop, test and integrate software, apply Agile practices, and deliver mission-critical

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a relevant degree (Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related).
• Strong programming skills in Java, C++, C#, or Python.
• Understanding of the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to software development projects within multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Design, develop, test and integrate software solutions
• Develop clean, maintainable and well-tested code
• Apply Agile methodologies and modern software engineering practices
• Participate in sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives
• Support software integration, debugging and problem investigation
• Contribute to technical reviews and collaborative design discussions
• Help deliver mission-critical capabilities for UK defence customers
