Job summary

Kier Group in London is offering an Industrial Placement Building Services Engineer as part of our Construction team. Based in the London region, this year-long placement provides hands-on exposure to major building services projects and the chance to learn from experienced engineers.

You will support the design, implementation and management of mechanical and electrical building systems, review drawings, attend site visits and assist with cost estimates and schedules.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in building services engineering, mechanical, electrical engineering, or related field.
• Interest in sustainable design and building services is essential.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD or Revit) and basic HVAC/electrical/plumbing knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, development and coordination of building services systems with the project team.
• Review design drawings and specifications to ensure client requirements are met.
• Conduct site visits and surveys to verify installations and gather data.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers and stakeholders to integrate building services.
• Support preparation of technical reports, cost estimates and project schedules.

We're looking for an Industrial Placement Building Services Engineer to join our Construction team based in London.

Location: London Region
Hours: 40 per week
Salary: £30,784
Starting date: September 2027

What will you be responsible for?

As an Industrial Placement Building Services Engineer, you'll be working within the Construction team, supporting them in delivering high‑quality building services systems.

Your day to day will include:

• Assisting in the design, development, and coordination of building services systems alongside Building Services Managers
• Reviewing design drawings, specifications, and documentation to ensure they meet client requirements
• Conducting site visits and surveys to gather data and ensure designs are implemented correctly
• Collaborating with architects, engineers, consultants, and stakeholders to integrate building services seamlessly
• Supporting the preparation of technical reports, cost estimates, and project schedules
