Job summary

Southdown Abrasives & Industrial Chemicals Ltd is seeking an experienced, commercially minded salesperson to join our office-based team in the UK. The role combines inbound sales, account development, quotation management and customer service, with a focus on developing repeat consumable sales from existing customers.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years' proven experience in internal sales or a similar B2B sales role.
• Confident and engaging on the telephone.
• Strong commercial focus with excellent customer service.
• Experience preparing and managing quotations.
• Organised and able to manage several enquiries at once.
• Ownership of customer requirements from enquiry through to completion.
• Works well as part of a small, collaborative team.
• Comfortable using CRM, email and standard office software.

Responsibilities

• Handle inbound sales enquiries by telephone and email.
• Understand customers’ requirements and recommend suitable products.
• Prepare quotations and follow them through to order.
• Upsell and identify relevant complementary products.
• Proactively contact existing tool and machinery customers to develop repeat consumable sales.
• Follow up previous quotations, enquiries and sales opportunities.
• Support the Area Sales Managers with pricing, quotations and customer follow‑up.
• Develop strong, long‑term relationships with existing customers.
• Handle general customer‑service queries and resolve issues professionally.
• Maintain accurate customer, quotation and sales information within our CRM.
• Liaise with purchasing, accounts and warehouse colleagues to ensure customers receive a reliable service.
