Job summary

Omega, a leading automotive lighting manufacturer, is seeking an Industrial Engineer to join its Manufacturing team. The role focuses on process optimisation, capacity planning, continuous improvement, and supporting NPI through to SOP, working closely with manufacturing, quality, and engineering to drive operational excellence.

You will conduct time studies, design factory layouts, manage capital equipment justification, maintain standard work, and support health and safety while delivering

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree, HNC/HND or equivalent industry experience.
  • Practical MTM knowledge and application.
  • Experience with manufacturing equipment programming, troubleshooting, and investigation.
  • Experience in a manufacturing/industrial engineering environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good literacy, numeracy and computer skills.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication across multiple teams.
  • Independent and proactive working style.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct time studies and motion analysis across production operations to establish and validate standard times.
  • Analyse manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, quality, and cost performance.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities across manufacturing operations.
  • Support ergonomics reviews and workstation improvements to reduce operator risk and improve workplace efficiency.
  • Drive initiatives that support Right First Time performance and overall manufacturing excellence.
  • Design and optimise factory layouts to improve workflow and reduce bottlenecks.
  • Analyse production capacity and resource utilisation to identify future requirements.
  • Develop solutions to address capacity constraints through efficiency improvements or capital investment.
  • Coordinate engineering changes within production processes, including impact assessments and implementation activities.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve standard work documentation, including work instructions, training records, and cycle time standards.
  • Support process documentation updates following engineering and product changes.
  • Ensure manufacturing documentation reflects current methods and best practices.
  • Support process audits and continuous improvement reviews.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) build phases through to Start of Production (SOP).
  • Control and coordinate all phase builds and testing activities alongside NPI Engineers.
  • Participate in hands-on product builds and provide feedback to improve manufacturing readiness.
  • Develop and support manufacturing processes for new products.
  • Ensure availability of components and materials for phase builds.
  • Support Quality Engineering with defect investigations and root-cause analysis.

This role is responsible for delivering and continuously improving manufacturing products and processes, ensuring they meet both company and customer expectations for quality, efficiency, and performance. Working as part of the Series Manufacturing team, the successful candidate will focus on process optimisation, capacity planning, continuous improvement, and supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) activities through to Start of Production (SOP). The role requires a hands-on approach, working closely with manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams to drive operational excellence and support business growth.

NPI & Product Launch Support:

Qualifications & Requirements – Industrial Engineer
  • Degree in Engineering, HNC/HND qualification, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Understanding and practical application of MTM (Methods-Time Measurement).
  • Experience with manufacturing equipment programming, troubleshooting, and investigation.
  • Experience within a manufacturing, production engineering, or industrial engineering environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good literacy, numeracy, and computer skills.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work across multiple teams.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
