Job summary

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting an Industrial Electrician to join The Mond Nickel Refinery team in Swansea. You will maintain wiring systems, diagnose faults, and work with AC/DC drives, PLCs, and HV/LV isolation to ensure safe, reliable operation.

A recognised electrical apprenticeship and BSth Edition/C&G 2391 are required, with strong fault-finding skills and the ability to work shifts. Full training and long-term career development are provided.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintain wiring systems (SWA, MICC, T&E, conduit).
• Diagnose faults in an industrial setting and resolve them.
• Work with AC/DC drives, servos, and motors; PLC fault finding.
• Perform HV/LV isolation, switching, and safety procedures.
• Handle pressure, flow, and temperature loops in instrumentation.
• Install and maintain single and three-phase wiring systems.

Introduction

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting an Industrial Electrician to join the team at The Mond Nickel Refinery in Swansea, one of the world's leading nickel refineries owned and operated by Vale Europe.

What We Offer

• Base salary of £37,893, rising to £40,121 upon competency sign-off.


• Overtime paid at x1.75 premium rate.


• Annual company bonus.


• Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.


• Potential to move onto shift work carrying a £5,391 per annum shift allowance pro rata.

Key Duties

• Work with wiring systems including SWA, MICC, T&E and conduit.


• Diagnose and resolve faults in an industrial environment.


• Work with AC and DC drives, servos and motors.


• Undertake PLC fault finding.


• Carry out HV and LV isolation and switching.


• Work with pressure, flow and temperature loops.


• Install and maintain single and three-phase wiring systems.


• Work with various motor starter methods and associated circuits.

Requirements

• Recognised apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering.


• BSth Edition and C&G 2391.


• Ideally five years' relevant industry experience, preferably within heavy industry or refining.


• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in electrical and instrumentation systems.


• Strong electrical fault-finding knowledge is essential.


• Ability to work shifts and respond to call-ins when required.


• Good organisational and communication skills.


• Commitment to safe working practices and environmental standards.


• HNC qualification and experience using maintenance systems such as SAP are preferred.
