Job summary

Associated British Ports (ABP) is seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to join the Engineering team at the Port of Ipswich. You will maintain critical port plant and equipment, diagnose faults and perform repairs to ensure safety and reliability in a busy industrial environment.

The role is based in Ipswich with occasional travel to other East Anglia locations; shifts include early/late patterns. You will work under the Engineering Supervisor and mentor apprentices as needed, upholding

Qualifications

• Electrical engineering qualification required (City & Guilds/ONC/HNC or equivalent).
• Time-served experience as Electrical Technician or Electrical Engineer.
• Experience with industrial plant, heavy equipment, cranes or conveyors.
• Strong fault-finding and maintenance skills.
• Solid knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and risk assessments.
• Proficient IT skills and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance on port plant and equipment.
• Diagnose faults and perform repairs to minimise downtime.
• Ensure all work complies with safety procedures and legislation.
• Maintain availability and reliability of engineering assets.
• Support apprentices and junior engineers when required.
• Keep accurate maintenance records and report progress to supervisors.
