JM Selection Ltd. is seeking a Software Systems Engineer for a Bridgend-based role in South Wales, focused on software and control systems for specialist industrial equipment.

You will design, develop and maintain software across engineering projects, collaborate with engineering, product development and production teams, and produce specifications, test plans and procedures. The role also involves testing, commissioning support and occasional overseas site installations.

Formación

• VB.NET experience or willingness to develop VB.NET systems.
• Background in software development within engineering, manufacturing, automation or related tech.
• Understanding of how software interacts with machinery and control systems.
• Experience or interest in special‑purpose machinery, machine control or automation.
• Analytical, problem‑solving mindset with good communication.
• Structured approach to testing, documentation and problem‑solving.
• Willingness to learn, take ownership and develop technical skills.
• Overseas site installations occasionally required.

Responsabilidades

• Design, develop and maintain software for existing and future engineering projects.
• Work closely with engineering, product development and production teams to understand requirements and develop suitable software solutions.
• Produce software specifications, technical documentation, test plans and procedures.
• Develop and test software to ensure systems meet technical requirements and quality standards.
• Investigate software and system issues, troubleshoot faults and implement effective fixes and improvements.
• Support machine trials, installation, commissioning and validation activities.
• Work with customers, end users and external contractors to ensure systems meet project requirements.
• Support the ongoing development and improvement of existing control systems, including legacy software written in VB.NET.
• Assist with technical reviews, knowledge sharing and training colleagues where required.
• Keep technical knowledge up to date and support occasional overseas site installations when needed.
