Job summary

Safran are seeking an Automation Technology Engineer at our Gloucester site to lead deployment, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Manufacturing Control System across 130+ assets. You will optimise PLCs, HMIs, and databases, ensuring data quality, and work with Production, Maintenance, Engineering and Quality to enable data-driven decisions.

You will collaborate with IT to evolve the industrial IT infrastructure, focusing on cybersecurity and reliability to support new equipment

Qualifications

Experience and qualifications in Industrial Automation Technology within a manufacturing environment
Proven skills in programming languages used in Automation (e.g., PLC programming, ladder logic, HMI/SCADA scripting, SQL)
Familiarity with technologies such as SCADA/Historian (WinCC Siemens), process control (MES), industrial networks, and related protocols (OPC, Modbus, TCP/IP)
Experience in configuring network communications (protocols, switches, VLANs, etc.)
Database management experience (on-premises and/or cloud-based)
Strong project management skills
Experience in IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) and cybersecurity

Responsibilities

Deploy, maintain, and continually improve the Manufacturing Control System (MCS) across 130+ industrial assets.
Optimize PLCs, HMIs and databases to ensure robust data quality and structure.
Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Engineering and Quality teams to enable data-driven decisions across operations.
