Job summary

Safran Landing Systems in Gloucester is seeking an Automation Technology Engineer to join a small, high-performing team responsible for the deployment, maintenance and continual improvement of our Manufacturing Control System across 130+ assets.

You will optimise PLCs, HMIs and databases, ensuring data quality and structure, and work with Production, Maintenance, Engineering and Quality to enable data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• Experience and qualifications in Industrial Automation Technology within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven skills in programming languages used in Automation (e.g., PLC programming, ladder logic, HMI/SCADA scripting, SQL)
• Familiarity with SCADA/Historian (with WinCC Siemens), process control (MES), industrial networks, and related protocols (OPC, Modbus, TCP/IP)
• Experience in configuring network communications (protocols, switches, VLANs, etc.)
• Database management experience (on-premises and/or cloud-based)
• Strong project management skills
• Experience in IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) and cybersecurity

Responsibilities

• Deployment, maintenance, and continual improvement of the Manufacturing Control System (MCS) across 130+ industrial assets.
• Optimise PLCs, HMIs, and databases to ensure robust data quality and structure.
• Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Engineering and Quality teams to enable data-driven decisions across operations.
• Work with IT to evolve industrial IT infrastructure, improving cybersecurity and reliability while supporting new equipment projects.
