Job summary

Safran S.A. in Gloucester is seeking an Automation Technology Engineer to support 130+ industrial assets, deploying and maintaining the Manufacturing Control System (MCS) and driving data-driven decisions.

You will optimize PLCs, HMIs, and databases, and collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Engineering and IT to ensure cybersecurity, reliability, and continuous improvement across our digital manufacturing ecosystem.

Qualifications

Experience and qualifications in Industrial Automation Technology within a manufacturing environment.
Proven skills in programming languages used in Automation (PLC programming, ladder logic, HMI/SCADA scripting, SQL).
Familiarity with SCADA/Historian (WinCC Siemens), process control (MES), industrial networks and related protocols (OPC, Modbus, TCP/IP).
Experience in configuring network communications (protocols, switches, VLANs, etc.).
Database management experience (on-premises and/or cloud-based).
Strong project management skills and experience with IIoT and cybersecurity.

Responsibilities

Deployment, maintenance, and continual improvement of our Manufacturing Control System (MCS) supporting 130+ industrial assets.
Optimize PLCs, HMIs, and databases to ensure robust data quality and structure.
Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Engineering and Quality to enable data-driven decisions across operations.
Collaborate with IT to evolve industrial IT infrastructure, ensuring cybersecurity and reliability while supporting continuous improvement and new equipment projects.
Drive innovation across the manufacturing ecosystem.
