Job summary

Grant Thornton UK LLP is seeking an Indirect Tax Associate Director to lead VAT and Indirect Tax work for a diverse client base in the UK. You will deliver high-quality technical advice, guide junior colleagues, and manage risk and billing across assignments.

The role emphasizes client relationships, strategic tax planning, and collaborating across teams in a hybrid working environment with flexibility and balance as core values.

Qualifications

• Experience of VAT/Indirect Taxes across advisory or in-house environments.
• Ability to manage a large and varied portfolio of indirect tax clients.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills for junior staff.
• Proven ability to communicate complex tax issues clearly to clients and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Scope, deliver and bill client work with high quality technical advice.
• Guide junior staff in research and deliverables while supporting Directors/Partners.
• Provide technically accurate advice on Indirect Tax matters with reference to legislation and case law.
• Tailor written communications to different recipients and explain complex issues to non-experts.
• Ensure risk management processes are followed from take-on to completion.
• Manage financial hygiene including billing, gross margin, and WIP.
