Job summary

Newport Health Centre, a GP practice serving over 24,500 patients across two sites, is seeking a Practice Nurse to join its multi-disciplinary team. The post involves managing long-term conditions, immunisations, wound care, cervical cytology and venepuncture, with autonomous working and travel between sites.

You will hold an NMC registration, a DBS check and a relevant nursing or health degree, with good IT skills and the ability to plan, prioritise and evaluate treatment programmes while

Qualifications

• Relevant nursing or health degree required.
• Maths and English GCSEs (or equivalent) required.

Responsibilities

• Manage long‑term conditions such as asthma, diabetes and hypertension
• Deliver routine immunisations and vaccination programmes for adults and children, including travel vaccines
• Provide wound care, including opportunistic wound care
• Carry out cervical cytology and venepuncture
• Diagnose and treat minor illnesses
• Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate treatment programmes, including health promotion
• Respond to complex, urgent or emergency patient situations, including starting emergency care
• Plan and manage nursing appointments across both sites and oversee the clinical team's working day
• Apply infection prevention and control, and safe storage and disposal of vaccines and drugs
• Keep accurate, complete patient records and protect confidential information
• Contribute to QOF achievement and maintain quality governance for the nursing team
• Work within safeguarding policies, referring family violence and vulnerable child or adult concerns as appropriate
• Flexible and cooperative, including outside core office hours
