Job summary

East Suffolk Council is seeking a Technical Officer to support adaptations for residents living with disabilities. You will work with Occupational Therapists to design suitable home adaptations and supervise contractors to ensure quality outcomes.

This permanent role requires a full driving licence for property inspections across the East Suffolk District, with most inspections in the Lowestoft area. Local government pension scheme and flexible working are offered.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of building construction.
• Ability to analyse and solve new and complex problems.
• Clear communications skills.
• Full driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice, assistance and support to individuals living with a disability who wish to adapt their homes.
• Liaise with Occupational Therapists in designing reasonable and practicable solutions to meet client needs.
• Instruct and monitor contractors to deliver high-quality adaptations.
