Job summary

Discovery is looking for a supportive and compassionate individual to join our team as a Support Worker in Chard. You will help a gentleman with learning disabilities and epilepsy to live life on his terms, supporting finances, shopping, cooking and personal care while encouraging his independence and goals.

You’ll engage in activities like swimming, visiting local cafés, attending day services, and sharing interests in current affairs to build a genuine connection and meaningful daily routines.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; values are kindness, patience and reliability.
• Able to commit to full-time 37.5 hours per week.
• Willingness to support a person with learning disabilities and epilepsy.

Responsibilities

• Assist with finances, shopping and cooking to support daily living.
• Support personal care, including prompts and hair washing.
• Encourage independence and help plan meals and activities.
• Accompany activities such as swimming, coffee visits and day service.
