Job summary

Penderels Trust in the United Kingdom is seeking a compassionate care worker to support an 18+ autistic individual living independently with 24/6 hour support. You will provide personal care, household tasks, meal preparation, and help with daily living activities.

Your role includes encouraging communication, advocating for the person, and assisting with transport, including driving when needed and using public transport to promote independence.

Qualifications

• 18+ age required.
• Experience with autistic individuals and challenging behaviours desirable.
• Willingness to drive and assist with transport.
• Non-smoker preferred.
• Ability to report safety issues and accidents promptly.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care (toileting, bathing, dressing) as needed.
• Cook/prepare meals and assist with eating and drinking.
• Administer medication as directed.
• Assist with household chores and general housekeeping.
• Support attendance at appointments (hospital/doctor) and accompany to activities.
• Assist with shopping and food procurement.
• Support to travel to work/school/college/social activities.
• Encourage socialisation and participation in activities to promote independence.
• Develop a trusting one-to-one working relationship with the individual.
