Job summary

Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is seeking a Visual Impairment Rehabilitation Officer to support residents with sensory loss, building confidence and independence through needs-led assessments and tailored rehabilitation across the borough.

You will deliver practical mobility and orientation training, provide low vision support, and collaborate with health and housing partners to ensure comprehensive care while following safeguarding procedures.

Qualifications

• Diploma of Higher Education in Rehabilitation Studies or an equivalent qualification.
• FdSc in Rehabilitation Work (Visual Impairment) or equivalent qualification.
• Experience working with people with visual and hearing impairments, and delivering practical mobility and orientation training.

Responsibilities

• Carry out needs-led assessments and deliver tailored rehabilitation programmes across the borough.
• Provide practical daily living, mobility, orientation, and low vision support to residents.
• Coordinate with families, health professionals, housing teams and partners to ensure holistic care.
• Maintain accurate records and operate within safeguarding and statutory frameworks.
