Job summary

Birmingham City Council is seeking an Income Officer for Temporary Accommodation to maximise income collection and support residents in temporary housing. You will manage enquiries, conduct financial assessments, process rent payments and work with residents to set up payment plans while promoting welfare benefits and financial inclusion.

The role requires strong numeracy and IT skills, delivery of accurate records and collaboration with partner agencies to ensure compliant and efficient income

Qualifications

• Experience in income management or financial administration in housing or LA context.
• Knowledge of housing legislation, homelessness and welfare reform.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills for financial assessments.

Responsibilities

• Respond to income-related enquiries via phone, in person, home visits and digital channels.
• Carry out financial assessments and income calculations for residents in temporary accommodation.
• Process rent payments, monitor accounts and arrange payment plans with residents.
• Advise on housing financial matters, welfare benefits and entitlement to support access.
• Use IT systems and databases to process requests and maintain records.
• Prepare statistical information, reports and support audits and improvements.
• Collaborate with colleagues and external partners to resolve income issues and support policy development.
