Job summary

Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking two Learning Support and Pastoral Teaching Assistants for Pinefield Centre in Formby. The roles run term-time, with scheduled hours across Monday to Friday, and involve direct pupil support, safeguarding compliance and collaboration with teaching staff.

Appointments require enhanced DBS clearance and adherence to Keeping Children Safe in Education policies. The service emphasises inclusion, safeguarding and pupil wellbeing within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Establish good working relationships with key stage 3 and 4 pupils.
• Be aware of and respond appropriately to individual pupil needs.
• Work with Sen Lead and class teacher to provide for pupils needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide minimal administration support (e.g. photocopying).
• Establish good working relationships with staff and pupils, acting as a role model.
• Support pupils with specific needs following guidance and planning from the class teacher.
• Report pupil achievements, progress and issues in agreed format.
• Support pupil behaviour in line with service policy and ensure reports are made in the service format.
• Gather/report basic information from/to parents/carers as directed.
• Prepare and maintain equipment and resources as directed.
• Be aware of and comply with all service policies relating to child protection, health, safety and data protection.
