Job summary

The Barnes Wallis Academy is seeking a dedicated Inclusion & Student Support Manager to lead the academy’s inclusion and isolation provision, supporting students temporarily withdrawn from lessons. You will work with pastoral teams to promote high standards of behaviour and student wellbeing, helping reintegrate students into mainstream learning.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people, ideally within an educational or pastoral setting.
• Establish positive, professional relationships with students, colleagues and parents.
• Calm, consistent and confident approach to managing challenging behaviour.
• Excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills.
• Understanding safeguarding, inclusion and student wellbeing.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a wider team.
• Commitment to supporting students in overcoming barriers to learning.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the inclusion provision, ensuring a safe, structured and purposeful learning environment for students temporarily removed from mainstream lessons.
• Promote positive behaviour, maintaining high expectations and consistent application of the academy's behaviour policy.
• Support student learning by ensuring appropriate curriculum work during inclusion or isolation.
• Facilitate restorative conversations to resolve conflict and encourage positive choices.
• Manage behaviour follow-up activities and reflections on actions and consequences.
• Supervise students within the inclusion and isolation provision and maintain conduct standards.
• Collaborate with pastoral and senior leadership teams to support students with behavioural and additional needs.
• Maintain accurate records using Bromcom to monitor detentions, isolations, inclusion and incidents.
• Undertake fact-finding and investigations, including obtaining student statements.
• Communicate effectively with parents and carers to improve behaviour and engagement.
• Liaise with safeguarding and attendance teams and external agencies to provide appropriate support.
• Support the wider Academy, including breaks supervision and supervising during designated periods.
• Promote safeguarding and student welfare, reporting and managing concerns in line with policies.
