Job summary

Barnes Wallis Academy is seeking an Inclusion & Student Support Manager to lead the inclusion and isolation provision for students temporarily withdrawn from lessons. The role involves promoting positive behaviour, supporting learning, and coordinating with pastoral staff to reintegrate students into mainstream lessons.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people in educational/pastoral settings.
• Calm, consistent and confident approach to managing challenging behaviour.
• Excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills.
• Strong safeguarding awareness and student welfare focus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the inclusion provision to provide a safe, structured learning environment for students temporarily removed from lessons.
• Promote positive behaviour with high expectations and consistent policy application.
• Support student learning by ensuring curriculum work is completed during inclusion or isolation.
• Facilitate restorative conversations between students and staff to rebuild relationships and encourage positive choices.
• Manage follow-up activities and help students reflect on actions and consequences.
• Supervise students in inclusion/isolation and maintain conduct and engagement standards.
• Collaborate with pastoral and senior leadership teams to support students with behavioural and additional needs.
• Maintain accurate records using Bromcom for detentions, isolations, inclusions and incidents.
• Undertake fact-finding and investigations including student statements where appropriate.
• Communicate with parents and carers to share updates and improve behaviour and engagement.
• Liaise with safeguarding, attendance teams and external agencies to ensure appropriate support.
• Support the wider Academy, including supervision during breaks and lunchtimes.
• Promote safeguarding and student welfare consistent with Academy and Trust policies.
