Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting an Inclusion Support Assistant for Sunderland secondary schools, with immediate starts and long-term placements. This is a specialist role focused on keeping vulnerable and at‑risk students engaged with mainstream education and preventing unnecessary exclusions.

You will work in inclusion and pastoral teams, delivering targeted 1:1 and small group support, building trust with complex students, and supporting reintegration after exclusion or prolonged absence.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people in inclusion, pastoral, or behaviour support capacity.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service desirable.

Responsibilities

• Work with students at risk of exclusion or disengagement from mainstream education.
• Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group support within an inclusion setting.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with complex students.
• Support reintegration after exclusion or prolonged absence.
• Liaise with pastoral staff, the SENCO, families, and external agencies.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to individual support plans.
• Uphold safeguarding responsibilities at all times.
