Job summary

New College Swindon is recruiting Inclusion Mentors to support learners with SEND and additional needs, delivering one-to-one and small group assistance to help remove barriers to learning and foster independence.

You will collaborate with teachers and external agencies to ensure inclusive learning environments, conduct initial assessments, and contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans while tracking progress and safeguarding learners.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting learners with SEND or additional needs.
• Strong understanding of inclusive practice and barriers to learning.
• Knowledge of EHCPs or willingness to develop this knowledge.
• GCSEs in English and Maths at 4/C or above (or willingness to achieve Level 2).
• SEND-related qualifications or professional development would be advantageous.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of learners and adults.

Responsibilities

• Deliver one-to-one and small group support for learners with SEND and additional needs.
• Help learners develop strategies to reduce barriers to learning and promote independence.
• Collaborate with teachers, curriculum teams, employers and external agencies to create inclusive environments.
• Carry out initial support needs assessments and contribute to support plans and EHCPs.
• Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate records for tailored support.
• Provide staff with advice on reasonable adjustments and inclusive practice.
• Promote wellbeing, confidence and self-advocacy for learners.
• Contribute to ongoing development of inclusive practice across the College.
