About this Role

Barnes Wallis Academy is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic and highly motivated Inclusion & Student Support Manager to join our committed team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people, promoting positive behaviour and making a meaningful difference to students' educational experiences.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for leading and managing the Academy's inclusion and isolation provision, providing a structured, supportive environment for students who have been temporarily withdrawn from mainstream lessons.

Working closely with the Assistant Principal for Behaviour & Aspirations, Heads of Year and the wider pastoral team, you will promote high expectations of behaviour, achievement and personal development, helping students overcome barriers to learning and successfully reintegrate into mainstream lessons.

  • Lead and manage the inclusion provision, ensuring a safe, structured and purposeful learning environment for students temporarily removed from mainstream lessons.
  • Promote positive behaviour, maintaining high expectations and ensuring the consistent application of the Academy's behaviour policy, taking individual student circumstances into account.
  • Support student learning, ensuring students complete appropriate curriculum work during periods of inclusion or isolation.
  • Facilitate restorative conversations between students and staff, helping to resolve conflict, rebuild relationships and encourage positive choices.
  • Manage behaviour follow-up activities, supporting students in reflecting on their actions and understanding the consequences of their behaviour.
  • Supervise students within the inclusion and isolation provision, maintaining appropriate standards of conduct and engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with pastoral and senior leadership teams, including Heads of Year and the Assistant Principal, to support students with behavioural and additional needs.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, using Bromcom to monitor detentions, isolations, inclusion and behavioural incidents.
  • Undertake fact-finding and investigations, including obtaining student statements where appropriate.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers, providing updates and working together to improve student behaviour and engagement.
  • Liaise with safeguarding and attendance teams, teaching staff and external agencies to ensure students receive appropriate support.
  • Support the wider Academy, including supervision during breaks, lunchtimes and other designated periods.
  • Promote safeguarding and student welfare, ensuring all concerns are reported and managed in accordance with Academy and Trust policies.
