Job summary

Quantum Scholars are seeking a patient, experienced SEND English Tutor to provide personalised one-to-one tuition in Wokingham. The role covers English and Classics with in-person delivery, aiming to boost academic progress, confidence and engagement for a secondary-aged learner with SEND.

Experience with SEND/SEMH and an enhanced DBS are highly desirable. You will adapt lessons to individual needs, support GCSE preparation where appropriate and build a positive, trusting relationship with the

Qualifications

• Strong English subject knowledge at secondary level.
• Ability to support Classics, ideally with relevant subject knowledge or experience.
• Experience working with children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
• Experience providing one-to-one educational support is desirable.
• Ability to adapt teaching approaches to suit individual learning needs.
• A patient, calm, flexible and empathetic approach.
• Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
• Confidence supporting learners who may experience barriers to learning.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Reliable and consistent approach to work.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.

Responsibilities

• Provide personalised one-to-one English tuition to a secondary-aged learner.
• Support GCSE preparation and exam technique where appropriate.
• Develop reading, writing, comprehension, spelling, grammar and vocabulary skills.
• Support Classics where appropriate, depending on subject knowledge and experience.
