Job description

In-House Commercial Legal Counsel

Cheshire-based technology business seeks a commercial solicitor to join their respected in-house legal team.

This is teamed with sensible working hours, good control over your own work‑life balance, and excellent day-to‑day/project work to get your teeth into – a good opportunity for a commercially focused and confident lawyer.

The company operates within the technology sector, although technical knowledge and industry speak is not required – this job is all about commercial contracts, and your attitude to client advice and risk is going to be all important.

The Role

You’ll be advising on a broad range of commercial contracts including software licensing, SaaS agreements, cloud hosting arrangements, support contracts, and supplier agreements. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders on bid management, contract negotiation, risk assessment, and providing pragmatic commercial advice. The legal team is valued and embedded as a core function with good visibility across the business. The sales teams work closely with Legal and have a good working relationship.

This is a demanding business and the team works hard together, relying on each other to deliver.

What They’re Looking For
  • 2‑4 years’ PQE
  • Strong commercial contracts background
  • Ability to draft and negotiate clearly and confidently
  • Commercial acumen and risk analysis skills
  • Comfortable working autonomously in a fast‑paced environment
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • A pragmatic, solutions‑focused approach to legal advice

Experience with technology contracts, public sector work, or procurement would be advantageous but not essential.

What’s On Offer
  • Hybrid working (approximately 3 days per week in the office)
  • Competitive salary
  • Excellent benefits package including strong pension, private medical cover, 25 days holiday (with buy/sell options), and life assurance
  • You will be trusted and treated like an adult
  • A supportive team environment
Location

Cheshire (hybrid)
