A&S Recruitment is seeking an Import Operations Clerk for their Basildon office. The role supports Import Ocean Freight, Customs clearance and haulage operations, working with the Operations manager across the business to run the daily freight forwarding activities.

Key tasks include processing import shipments, handling documentation, booking shipments, and preparing customs paperwork, with a strong emphasis on accuracy and timely communication with clients and partners.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years experience in import operations or freight forwarding.
• Excellent IT skills including Word and Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication with attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and manage workload to meet deadlines.
• Professional with ability to work independently and with others.

Responsibilities

• Support the operations team with receipt and processing of import shipments.
• Handle documentation from clients and partners.
• Book import shipments and arrange releases/deliveries.
• Monitor arrivals and update partners and clients.
• Prepare import customs paperwork and process invoices.
• Provide general admin and customer service.
