Job summary

Rubicon Recruitment Agency is looking for an Import / Export Specialist in Poole to own import/export compliance and oversee cross-border shipments. You will liaise with suppliers, logistics partners and internal teams to ensure accurate documentation and timely customs clearance.

The role focuses on acting as a subject-matter expert for customs and trade, driving improvements across logistics processes and ensuring regulatory alignment.

Qualifications

• A strong understanding of import/export regulations and customs procedures.
• Previous experience working with freight forwarders and customs brokers.
• Confidence using ERP and shipping systems.
• Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Relevant import/export, customs, or logistics qualifications desirable, though not essential.

Responsibilities

• Managing import and export activities in line with UK and international trade regulations
• Preparing, reviewing, and maintaining customs documentation, including commercial invoices and export declarations
• Coordinating customs clearance with brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies
• Providing oversight of daily shipping activities to ensure priority shipments are dispatched on time
• Monitoring shipment progress and resolving transportation or documentation issues
• Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures for import and export activities
