Job summary

ALS Recruiting Ltd is seeking an Import Clerk for a Freight Forwarder in London. The role focuses on arranging import shipments, coordinating with transport providers and delivering excellent customer service to import customers.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year in freight forwarding, strong communication skills, and can work well both in a team and independently within a busy environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience in a similar function in the freight forwarding industry.
• Tactful handling of customer queries and excellent telephone manner.
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Arrange import shipments from worldwide origins.
• Arrange collections with selected transport companies.
• Liaise with clients, branches, sales departments and hauliers.
• Provide excellent customer service to import customers.
• Handle order traces and check documentation and invoices.
• Process pre-alerts from overseas offices and import customs entries.
• Communicate with shipping lines, airlines and transport companies.

Job Description

• Arranging import shipments from worldwide origins.
• Arranging collections with selected transport companies.
• Liaising with clients and other branches,sales departments, hauliers, etc.
• Providing excellent customer service to import customers.
• Handling order traces, checking documentation, commercial invoices, processing pre-alerts from overseas offices.
• Completion of import customs entries
• Experience at communicating with shipping lines, airlines and transport companies.

Candidate Specification
