Job summary

Morson Edge at the Devonport site is seeking a skilled engineer to support the Design and Safety Manager on major submarine and warship infrastructure upgrades. The role focuses on coordinating technical work packages and ensuring design documents meet required standards and budgets.

Primary responsibilities include planning for effective implementation, maintaining quality management, health, safety and environmental compliance on a nuclear licensed site, and liaising with authorities.

Qualifications

• Nuclear introductory course or equivalent knowledge
• Sound understanding of industry legislation
• Industry Codes and Standards
• Implementation practices
• Design management including systems engineering, planning and budget control
• Knowledge of facility infrastructure design and installation
• Knowledge of construction techniques for nuclear safety related structures and systems

Responsibilities

• Support the development, leadership, management and coordination of technical work packages, agreeing project objectives and overseeing engineering resources.
• Ensure design documentation covers required scope and is produced to agreed standards, schedule and budget.
• Plan for effective project implementation, identify key factors and support the leadership of technical planning.
• Maintain Quality Management arrangements, comply with the Business Management System and Technical Manual.
• Ensure processes and activities are documented with records, configuration and quality controls.
• Support the Dock Readiness Design Manager to implement health, safety and environmental considerations in design.
• Liaise with Engineering Services Technical Authority to apply relevant good practice.
• Promote safety culture and raise nuclear safety concerns when needed.
• Ensure staff and contractors understand health, safety and environmental hazards and risks via effective risk communication.
