Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Rushden from September 2026. This full-time, permanent position offers ongoing professional development and opportunities to progress into teaching, pastoral support, SEND, safeguarding and broader education roles.

You will work with students across Key Stages 3 and 4, supporting teachers and helping learners build confidence and achieve their potential in an inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Patience and a positive, supportive approach to working with young people.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to build strong relationships with students, staff and parents.
• Reliable, proactive and able to collaborate effectively in a team.
• Experience with or willingness to work with young people in education or related settings.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons across a range of subjects.
• Work with students one-to-one and in small groups to reinforce learning and confidence.
• Provide support for students with SEND including ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, and SEMH needs.
• Help keep students engaged, focused and motivated throughout the day.
• Support with behaviour management and creating a calm learning environment.
• Assist with literacy, numeracy and other curriculum areas to improve progress.
• Encourage independence, resilience and confidence in learning.
• Contribute to pastoral care and student wellbeing.
