Job summary

Compass Community School Mountfields Park in Loughborough is seeking compassionate Teaching Assistants to support children aged 7–17 with SEMH and SEND needs. You will work 1:1 or in small groups, help deliver learning, and contribute to a trauma-informed, therapeutic environment.

The role requires patience, resilience, strong communication, and a willingness to engage in ongoing therapeutic training to support outcomes for every child.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of English and Maths.
• Resilient, persistent and solution-focused.
• Willingness to participate in therapeutic training.

Responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning.
• Work with children 1:1 or in small groups.
• Manage classroom resources.
• Take children on educational trips and visits.
• Have lunch with children who struggle socially.
• Maintain a good basic understanding of English and Maths.
• Keep children safe during heightened behaviours with strong behaviour management skills and clear communication.
• Create, play and teach games to develop social skills or further learning.
• Create displays that support teaching and enhance the learning environment.
• Celebrate successes and progress of each pupil.
• Participate in therapeutic training sessions or reflections on challenging periods.
