Job summary

21 Health & Social Care are recruiting for Support Workers in Midlothian to join Homelessness Services. You will provide compassionate, person-centred support to individuals experiencing homelessness and help them gain independence.

The role covers 36 hours per week across day and night shifts, with a focus on safeguarding, budgeting, accommodation support and liaison with landlords and housing services.

Qualifications

• Experience in social care or homelessness support is desirable but not essential.
• A compassionate, resilient and person-centred approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to promoting dignity, respect and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, person-centred support to individuals experiencing homelessness.
• Support service users to develop and sustain independent living skills.
• Assist with day-to-day routines, including budgeting, meal preparation and maintaining accommodation.
• Provide emotional support and encouragement to build confidence and resilience.
• Help individuals access and sustain accommodation, including liaising with landlords and housing services.
• Support with attending appointments and community resources.
• Encourage engagement with education, training or employment opportunities.
• Carry out risk assessments and follow safeguarding procedures.
• Maintain accurate records and support plans; work with internal and external teams.
