Job summary

St Peter’s Catholic Academy in the United Kingdom is seeking a passionate Teaching Support Assistant to work with teachers and support learning for pupils with SEND.

You will provide specialist assistance to pupils needing help to overcome barriers to learning, including those with moderate to profound learning difficulties and related needs. The role requires a caring, nurturing approach and commitment to the Catholic ethos of our school.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with SEND.

Responsibilities

• Provide learning activities for pupils with SEND under supervision of a qualified teacher.
• Plan and evaluate specialist learning activities with the teacher.
• Support pupils on therapy or care programmes as directed.
• Monitor, assess and report on development and attainment with teacher input.
• Adapt resources and methods to support learning.
• Assist with individual development plans and review meetings.
• Attend to pupils' personal needs including toileting, hygiene, dressing and eating.
• Supervise pupils in class, playground and dining areas.
• Support pupils not on the normal timetable.
• Coordinate with families and other professionals.
