Job summary

Protocol Education is recruiting a confident and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH provision in Northallerton. You will support pupils with SEMH and challenging behaviours, building trust and routine, and helping learners re-engage with education at their own pace.

This temporary role offers weekly PAYE pay, access to CPD training, a dedicated consultant, and potential to progress to a longer-term position in a supportive setting.

Qualifications

• Experience with SEMH, SEND or challenging behaviour in school or similar settings.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach under pressure.
• Ability to build strong, positive relationships with pupils.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs.
• Help students manage emotions and de-escalate situations.
• Deliver 1:1 or small group support for learning and wellbeing.
• Collaborate with teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals.
• Be a consistent, calm presence throughout the day.
