Job summary

Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with SEMH and SEND in a primary setting. The role involves 1:1 and small-group support, delivering targeted interventions, and promoting emotional wellbeing within an inclusive classroom.

The post is part-time (29 hours per week), term-time plus 5 inset days, Band B SCP 4 (£26,016) pro rata with an actual salary of £18,194. Experience with SEMH/SEND is desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH and SEND is desirable.
• Ability to support pupils 1:1 and in small groups.
• Commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEMH, SEND or complex needs in the classroom.
• Deliver targeted interventions and personalised support.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group assistance tailored to individual needs.
• Support pupils to regulate emotions and engage with learning.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and carers where appropriate.
• Collaborate with class teachers, SENDCo and colleagues to provide consistent support.
