Job summary

Cover People are recruiting a Secondary SEMH Teacher for a specialist school in Rochdale, starting September 2026. The role is full-time, long-term with the potential to become permanent, and requires a patient, adaptable educator experienced with SEMH or challenging circumstances.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons, establish routines, track progress, and work with a supportive team to help pupils access education and achieve EHCP goals.

Qualifications

• QTS, QTLS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching or supporting pupils with SEMH or additional needs.
• Strong behaviour management and the ability to stay calm and consistent.
• Flexible teaching style and ability to differentiate learning.
• Ability to build genuine, positive relationships with young people.
• Collaborative approach and work with wider support team.
• Resilient, enthusiastic and nurturing attitude toward teaching.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging secondary lessons, adapting to pupils’ learning needs.
• Establish routines and a positive classroom culture.
• Track pupil progress and contribute to targets and EHCP outcomes.

• Work with Teaching Assistants, pastoral staff and leaders for consistent support.
• Apply effective behaviour management, responding calmly to challenges.

• Contribute to staff training and school activities.
