Job summary

TeacherActive is partnering with a welcoming specialist SEMH school in Colchester to recruit a Secondary SEMH Teacher. The role focuses on planning and delivering engaging, accessible lessons for secondary students with SEMH and additional needs, fostering a calm, trauma-informed environment.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will support emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement, tailoring learning to individual pupils and contributing to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • Experience in secondary education is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver differentiated lessons.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons across the secondary curriculum.
  • Adapt teaching and resources to meet individual pupils' needs and abilities.
  • Support pupils with SEMH and additional learning needs.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Support pupils with challenging behaviour or engagement difficulties.
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and resilience.
  • Create a safe, structured classroom environment.
  • Monitor, assess and record pupil progress.
  • Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development.
  • Collaborate with Learning Support Assistants and other professionals.
  • Contribute to EHCP targets and pupil reviews.
  • Maintain safeguarding and pupil wellbeing standards.
