Job summary

Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group is inviting applications for a Learning Support Assistant at Leek College. This role focuses on the care and education of students with disabilities or learning difficulties, under the direction of the Lead Support Tutor for ALS.

You will assist students, prepare rooms and materials, track progress, and attend to health and safety needs. A Level 2 literacy/numeracy qualification and safeguarding awareness are desirable, with flexibility for term-time hours.

Qualifications

• Qualified to at least Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE equivalent).
• Relevant experience or qualifications in an education or caring capacity, particularly supporting students or young people with learning difficulties and/or other disabilities is desirable.
• A good knowledge of safeguarding and equal opportunities is required.
• A Level 2 note taking qualification or equivalent is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Care and education of students with disabilities or learning difficulties under the Lead Support Tutor for ALS.
• Assist students in their work; prepare rooms, equipment and materials; track learner progress.
• Attend to health, safety and hygiene needs of learners.
• Flexible working hours to accommodate learners' needs.
