Job summary

Prison Advice and Care Trust is seeking a Fixed Term Contract Family Support Worker (Visits Centre Assistant) at HMP The Mount. Based in the visitor centre, you will help create a welcoming and supportive environment for visiting families, offering information, guidance, and activities for children while ensuring refreshments are available.

You will work to make visits positive and stress-free, handling situations calmly, and following safeguarding procedures.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience supporting people facing difficulties.
• Ability to organise activities for children and provide information.

Responsibilities

• Support families visiting loved ones in prison.
• Create a welcoming and supportive environment in the visitor centre.
• Offer information and guidance to visitors; organise activities for children and ensure refreshments are available.
• Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times.
• Collaborate with colleagues and partner agencies to improve family support services.
