Job summary

TeacherActive is working with a secondary-aged Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Monmouthshire that is looking for a dedicated English Teacher to join their team on a temporary basis until the end of the academic year.

The successful English Teacher will plan and deliver engaging English lessons to secondary-aged pupils, adapting to individual learning, behavioural, and emotional needs, working with support staff to create a structured and positive classroom environment where pupils can re-engage

Qualifications

• Holds QTS and has experience teaching English at secondary level.
• Strong knowledge of the English curriculum.
• Confident supporting pupils with SEMH, behavioural and additional learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate excellent classroom and behaviour management
• Be able to adapt lessons to suit different abilities and learning needs
• Build strong, professional relationships with pupils
• Be resilient, patient and able to remain calm when faced with challenging behaviour
• Be passionate about helping pupils re-engage with learning and achieve their potential
• Previous experience working within a PRU, alternative provision, SEMH setting or similar environment would be highly desirable.
