Job summary

TeacherActive is working with a secondary-aged Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Monmouthshire that is looking for a dedicated English Teacher to join their team on a temporary basis until the end of the academic year.

The successful candidate will plan and deliver engaging English lessons to secondary-aged pupils, adapt to SEMH needs, and collaborate with support and pastoral staff to create a positive, structured learning environment.

Qualifications

• Hold QTS and experience teaching English at secondary level.
• Strong knowledge of the English curriculum.
• Confident supporting pupils with SEMH, behavioural and additional learning needs.
• Demonstrate excellent classroom and behaviour management.
• Able to adapt lessons to different abilities and learning needs.

Responsibilities

Start Date: Immediate Start
Salary: £173 per day
Contract: Temporary until the end of the academic year

TeacherActive is working with a secondary-aged Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Monmouthshire that is looking for a dedicated English Teacher to join their team on a temporary basis until the end of the academic year.

The successful English Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging English lessons to secondary-aged pupils, adapting their teaching to meet a range of individual learning, behavioural and emotional needs. You will work closely with experienced support and pastoral staff to create a structured and positive classroom environment where pupils can re-engage with their education.

The successful English Teacher will:

• Hold QTS and have experience teaching English at secondary level
• Have strong knowledge of the English curriculum
• Be confident supporting pupils with SEMH, behavioural and additional learning needs
• Demonstrate excellent classroom and behaviour management
• Be able to adapt lessons to suit different abilities and learning needs
• Build strong, professional relationships with pupils
• Be resilient, patient and able to remain calm when faced with challenging behaviour
• Be passionate about helping pupils re‑engage with learning and achieve their potential

Previous experience working within a PRU, alternative provision, SEMH setting or similar environment would be highly desirable.

Pay: £173 per day
