Job summary

Leeds City College is seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor to support learners aged 16–19 and 19+ in Maths and/or English GCSEs, delivering planned lessons and supervising classes at Quarry Hill Campus. You will also prepare resources, support small groups and help ensure a positive learning environment.

This fixed-term, reduced-year role runs term-time only (36 weeks) until July 2027, with pro rata salary.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience of supporting learners with Maths and/or English GCSEs.
• Ability to motivate 16–19 and 19+ learners in a positive learning environment.
• Good classroom management and supportive teaching assistance.

Responsibilities

• Supervise classes using pre-set work and keep students engaged.
• Clarify instructions and provide academic support during cover sessions.
• Record attendance and report progress to staff.
• Support a caseload of students, monitoring progress and providing guidance.
• Collaborate with curriculum teams to ensure consistent delivery.
• Adapt to cover lessons across course levels as required.
• Attend additional duties such as invigilation, enrichment, or pastoral support.
• Maintain a safe, respectful learning environment and attend internal meetings.
