Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a confident Behaviour Support Assistant for a mainstream primary school in Wallasey. The role runs full-time from December 2026 to June 2027, with a day-rate starting at £97.50 depending on experience.

You will work with teachers and SEN staff to support pupils who struggle to regulate emotions and engage with learning. You’ll provide targeted support, implement de-escalation strategies, and help pupils develop coping skills, within a supportive team and PAYE

Qualifications

• Experience in behaviour support within a school or setting.
• Knowledge of SEMH and emotional-regulation needs.
• Experience with Autism, ADHD or other learning needs.
• Experience in youth work, mentoring or pastoral support.
• Experience with safeguarding and inclusive education.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group behaviour support.
• Help pupils access lessons and stay engaged in learning.
• Support emotional regulation and positive decision-making.
• Use agreed de-escalation and behaviour-support strategies.
• Reinforce clear, consistent classroom routines and expectations.
• Record relevant information and provide feedback to staff.
• Follow individual support plans, EHCPs and risk assessments.
• Build positive relationships without lowering expectations.
