Job summary

Smile Education are currently recruiting for an Academic Mentor to join a secondary school in Wolverhampton, supporting students both within the classroom and through targeted interventions. Graduates, including STEM backgrounds, are encouraged to apply and the role offers a long-term, full-time contract.

The Academic Mentor will work alongside teaching staff to provide additional support to students, helping them build confidence, improve understanding and make progress.

Qualifications

• Has a degree or relevant experience working with young people.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with young people.
• Confident supporting students one-to-one and in small groups.
• Reliable, proactive and enthusiastic with a passion for education.

Responsibilities

• Support students within the classroom.
• Deliver targeted interventions to individuals and small groups.
• Provide additional support to students who need help with their learning.
• Help students develop confidence, independence and positive learning habits.
• Support pupils across different abilities and needs.
• Work closely with classroom teachers and pastoral staff.
• Create a positive and encouraging learning environment.
